What is Myofascial Release?
John Barnes' Myofascial
Release is a gentle, and safe and highly effective
whole body hands-on approach to treatment.
It provides sustained pressure into myofascial
restriction and utilizes a variance of pressure
from heavy to light. It eliminates pain
and headaches and restores motion. It
deepens the relaxation response and is the ultimate
mind-body healing approach. |

What is Fascia?
Fascia is a tough connective
tissue that spreads throughout the body in a
3-dimensional web. It travels head-to-toe
uninterrupted and acts a s a shook absorber
in the body. Fascia has extremely important
functions in support, protection, separation,
cellular respiration, elimination, metabolism
and fluid and lymphatic flow in the body.
Trauma or malfunction of the fascia can set
up the environment for poor cellular efficiency,
disease, pain and dysfunction throughout the
body. |
What is Myofascial Restriction?
Myofascial restriction is
tight hardened fascia (connective tissue web).
It occurs following injury, repetitive micro
trauma, stress, inflammation, poor posture,
scarring and will progressively tighten over
time if left untreated. It does not
show up on any of the standard tests done
today such as the MRI, CAT Scan, EMG and X-Rays.
Is is the underlying cause of most CHRONIC
pain problems that have not responded to traditional
medical or surgical intervention.

Myofascial
Release |
Touching patients with
skilled hands can be one of the most potent
ways of effecting a positive change. Myofascial
release has great flexibility in that the techniques
can be incorporated into numerous specialty
areas and treatments. They are especially
applicable in managing acute and chronic pain,
neurologic and movement dysfunction, birth trauma,
head injuries, pediatric and geriatric conditions,
pelvic and menstrual problems, temporomandibular
dysfunction, headaches, sports injuries, restriction
of motion and recurring injuries. |
